In this video i will create a baseline report for your computer.

  1. Expand Performance Logs And Alerts.
  2. Right-click Counter Logs and select New Log Settings.
  3. In the New Log Settings dialog box, type Countermmddyy (replace mmddyy with the current month, date, and year) as the log name. The log file will be stored in the C:\PerfLogs folder by default. Click the OK button.
  4. In the General tab of the counter log’s Properties dialog box, click the Add button and add the following counters:
  5. Memory > Available Mbytes
  6. Memory > Pages/Sec
  7. Paging File > %Usage
  8. Processor > %Processor Time
  9. Processor > Interrupts/Sec
  10. PhysicalDisk > %Disk Time
  11. PhysicalDisk > Current Disk Queue Length
  12. Network Interface > Bytes Total/Sec
  13. TCPv4 > Segments/Sec
  14. Set the interval for sampling data to 5 seconds.
  15. Click the Log Files tab. Uncheck the End File Names With checkbox. This will prevent the filename from being appended with mmddhh (month/day/hour). Click the OK button to close the Properties dialog box and start the log file.
  16. To view your log file, open System Monitor. Click the Properties button on the toolbar.   Click the Log Files radio button, then click Add.
  17. In the open file dialog box, select C:\PerfLogs\Countermmddyy and click the Open button.
  18. Add the counters from the log file you created to see the data that was collected in your log.
